Genetic Analyses of “Trios” in the SOEP-IS

**Short Description:** This module aims to collect genetic data from the participants. Compared to the sample sizes of state-of-the-art genetic discovery studies (with N > 1,000,000), the sample size of the SOEP-IS is marginal. However, the project is not primarily a genetic discovery study. Although genetic data from the SOEP-IS may be included in future genetic discovery meta-analyses, the main purpose of collecting genetic data in the SOEP-IS is to enable novel, genetically informed research designs that will help social scientists to better understand environmental effects.
